Michael Schumacher retired from Formula 1 for the first time at the end of the 2006 season. That meant the seven-time World Champion had capacity to be involved with developing a track-focused variant of the mid-engined F430. The German turned in extensive test miles and can also take some credit for helping to develop Ferrari’s now statement Manettino switch on the steering wheel that selects the level of intervention from the driver aids.

The resulting 430 Scuderia launched with revised front and rear bumpers, which evoked the celebrated “sharknose” design of the 156 Grand Prix car. The naturally aspirated 4.3-litre V-8 engine was also tweaked and gained an exhaust system from the F430 Challenge race car. That increased the output to 510 horsepower, which was sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed F1-SuperFast2 paddle-operated, automated manual transmission. Ferrari quoted a sub-3.6-second sprint time from 0 to 100 km/h, while the top speed was 319 km/h.

This 2009 model year example was finished by the factory in Rosso Scuderia and configured with optional racing stripes, plus red brake callipers that sit behind twin five-spoke wheels. The exterior also gained carbon fibre mirrors and the coveted Scuderia shields set into the front wings. The interior, meanwhile, features black leather-trimmed race-style seats equipped with harnesses.

Accompanied by its owner’s guides, jack, and tool kit, this Scuderia has most recently been kept by an owner in the United Arab Emirates. Since 2020, the car has been maintained by official Ferrari importer Al Tayer Motors, with the latest service carried out in November 2023 (invoices of the work are available to view on file). With just two custodians from new, the odometer displayed 31,551 kilometres at the time of cataloguing.

The Scuderia is the enthusiast’s 430 model of choice. This car, in its classic Ferrari colour combination of red over black, would accordingly make for a thrilling addition to any supercar or marque-themed collection.
