Sealed is proud to announce this truly fascinating Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing. Exhaustive research by the consigning owner strongly implies that this very Gullwing was raced in the SCCA in 1956 by Charles “Chuck” Wallace on behalf of Washington, DC-based Mercedes-Benz distributors Jack Pry Limited, and in 1957 by Leonard “Chick” Butscher. An inspection identified the presence of several mechanical components that hinted at prior competition history, along with traces of red paint under its then-silver paint. Supremely original throughout, this is unquestionably one of the most significant steel-bodied Gullwings to have been offered for sale in recent years.
