The Essenza SCV12 is Lamborghini’s remarkable send-off to its long-running line of naturally aspirated, non-hybrid V-12 supercars, equipped with the most powerful internal combustion engine the company had produced at the time of its 2022 release. The Essenza was engineered to be enjoyed exclusively on the most prestigious circuits around the world, through a special programme run by Lamborghini and offered exclusively to the original owners of the 40 cars made.
Lamborghini engineered and styled the Essenza in-house through its Squadra Corse motorsport and Centro Stile design departments. The car’s carbon fibre monocoque and crash structure are built to FIA Le Mans Hypercar safety standards without the need for a conventional steel roll cage, a first for a GT-style competition car. The high-tech structure and integrated bodywork—built in three sections to facilitate rapid replacement—can support more than 12 tonnes without significant deformation. The integrated engine and gearbox support at the rear of the monocoque increases torsional stiffness by 20 per cent compared to the Huracán GT3 EVO.
Designed as a “laboratory of ideas”, according to Lamborghini, the Essenza SCV12 showcases competition-inspired technical solutions, such as the suspension installed directly on the load-bearing gearbox mounted aft of the engine, and various aerodynamic elements, which together produce more downforce than a GT3 car. The bonnet directs airflow up and over the windscreen and into the induction scoop on the roof that feeds the 6.5-litre V-12. Ram-air technology and other advancements increase output to around 819 horsepower—making the Essenza more powerful than the Aventador SVJ, which is also around 135 kilograms heavier.
Inside the purposeful cabin, a competition-style steering wheel inspired by Formula 1 yokes features a digital display, numerous controls, and integrated paddles for the six-speed sequential gearbox, all to help drivers keep their hands on the rim and eyes on the circuit. FIA-homologated OMP seats feature carbon shells and work in conjunction with OMP harnesses.
Deliveries of the Essenza began in April 2021 and continued until the end of 2022. The example offered here was finished in Bronze with a black interior. The car has been driven 505 kilometres and is accompanied by a flight case with a delivery kit, which includes spare brake and exhaust parts, a refuelling bottle, wheel nut key, and battery charger. Also included in the sale is an optional flight case—numbered 28 to match the car—with a complete set of wheels, tyre warmers, car lifter, and MSA box with cable.
For enthusiasts seeking an immersive, track-driving experience in a GT-style race car, this Essenza SCV12 presents a compelling opportunity. It also would be a fine choice for collectors, as the Italian automaker’s final homage to its naturally aspirated, non-hybrid V-12, representing an end of a celebrated era.
