Commissioned in 2013 on behalf of the current owner, this is the eighth of just nine Zagato GTZ Nibbios coachbuilt by the fabled design house. A suitable donor car with approximately 25,000 km on the odometer was sourced by Zagato on behalf of the consignor to be the basis for the project. It is important to state that the donor car was sound both mechanically and cosmetically, having never been involved in an accident prior to Zagato’s acquisition for the current owner.

The GTZ Nibbio’s carbon fibre bodywork recalls some of Zagato’s other 21st-century creations on Ferrari chassis and drivetrain, namely the 550 and 575 GTZ, the GTZ Nibbio’s immediate predecessors, featuring Zagato’s trademark double bubble roof and tapered tail. With its 6.0-litre V-12, it was good for a phenomenal 612 horsepower and 448 lb-ft of torque, capable of reaching 100 km/h in a scant 3.7 seconds, leading to a top speed of 330 km/h, all managed through a six-speed F1-style automated manual gearbox. State-of-the-art ceramic brakes reign in the power and clever aerodynamics, semi-active dampers, and a sophisticated traction control system give it impeccable road manners. The total cost for Zagato’s work, inclusive of the donor car, was €860,000, making it one of the most valuable new cars money could buy at the time of purchase.

Upon arrival at Zagato’s facility, the donor car was fully stripped to begin its transformation to a GTZ Nibbio. The gorgeous silver colour was designed by Marella Zagato, wife of Andrea Zagato, and this is offset with a red leather interior which was retrimmed by Zagato. Since the completion of Zagato’s work, the car has been driven less than 200 km, and as such it remains in excellent condition throughout. The car was inspected by Zagato in 2020 and this inspection report is available on file.

The GTZ Nibbio stands proud within Zagato’s lineage and is a spectacular example of 21st-century coachbuilding. This example would be a fascinating addition to any collection of vintage or modern sports cars.
